UP in the Community
Corporate social responsibility is one of our main company objectives. We aim to contribute 5% of our proft each year in cash or the equivalent in free support to worthy causes.
In addition, we committed to raising £25,000 by March 2010 for the CLAN 123 Campaign (Cancer Link Aberdeen North) whci we are delighted to say we have acheived!!
The UPprentice
To help reach our total we teamed up with Acumen and lauched an exiting new event for the Aberdeen business community in August 2009 - The UPprentice!
The UPprentice Concept
The concept behind The UPprentice was very simple.
• Teams made up of between four and ten UPprentices entered at a cost of £75 per person
• Each team was be given £100 of their entry fee back in cash
• The challenge was to use the £100 to make as much profit as possible over a six week period
• The remainder of the entry money paid for a celebratory “end of task” awards dinner for all the UPprentices
• Over a 6 week period the UPprentices managed to raise over £135,000!! All funds raised were donated to the CLAN 123 Campaign.

You can also help by buying online with 500 well known retailers via the following website; http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/clan/. A percentage of every purchase made goes to CLAN.
Our involvement in a wide range of projects includes:
- EPS Programme Sponsors – supporting 30 new start, high growth potential companies since 2005
- Business Mentoring Scotland – 3 Directors mentoring over 25 new start companies over the last 4 years
- Young Enterprise Scheme – signed up to be a key sponsor for 2008
- Provision of placements and mentoring support to more than 10 HR students from Robert Gordon University
- Representation on the Boards of CLAN (Cancer Link Aberdeen and North), Home Start and Engage
- Provision of thousands of pounds worth of free consultancy support to charities and community organisations
- Since setting up, UP's employees have raised and donated over £100,000 (estimated) for numerous local charities such as CLAN, Cancer Research UK, Roxburghe House, Aberdeen Foyer, Cornerstone, Home Start and Grampian Childrens Cancer Research Fund.
- Provision of full funding for the winner of the cHeRries Blossoming Award 2008 to complete their professional studies.
While we will always consider any requests for sponsorship or donations, we are only able to support a small fraction of the requests we get, so we tend to support the organisations or charities that mean a little bit more to us personally.
