Psychometric Testing
Psychometric tests provide a standardised, objective and reliable means of assessing individuals on a range of dimensions such as personality, motivation, verbal ability and numerical skills.
In a recruitment context, candidates are often selected primarily for their “eligibility” for a role - their qualifications, technical experience and previous employment history. However, what often determines performance is their ”suitability” - their “fit” to the role and the team in terms of personal traits and characteristics. Taking the time to assess a candidate’s personality, aptitudes and abilities can help to prevent hiring people who may not really be suited to the role or to the team – a costly and time consuming mistake!
Psychological assessments can be used as part of the selection process as they provide a means of making objective comparisons between candidates and guard against our natural tendency to base decisions on first impressions or to stereotype. They can also be used to guide the self development of individuals or teams.
Julie McDonald, Chartered Psychologist, is qualified to Level A and Level B as recognised by the British Psychological Society and can administer, analyse, interpret and feeback on the wide range of assessments we use.
