Assessment Centre content and style varies considerably from one organisation to another, and much depends on the role being recruited. Some examples of our assessment centres are briefly outlined below:

Graduate Recruitment – The Urquhart Partnership has worked with TOTAL over several years, designing and delivering Graduate Assessment Centres covering a wide range of disciplines from Geosciences to Engineering and Accountancy to Telecomms. Graduate attraction is vitally important to TOTAL and we have developed a format that is both informal and thorough. A combination of Interviews, Presentations, Group Exercises and Technical Case Studies are supported by Psychometric and Ability Testing.

Various roles – In the not for profit sector making the right hiring decisions can be even more critical than in commercial organisations. The Urquhart Partnership has designed and delivered several assessment centres for this organisation, including for a Chief Executive. These assessment centres have contained exercises and ability tests specifically designed to evaluate suitability for the charity sector.

Offshore Recruitment – The Urquhart Partnership has worked with Nexen for more than 3 years, designing and delivering assessment centres for a range of offshore positions including the very senior post of Offshore Installation Manager. In many cases the technical knowledge of the candidates was not in doubt so Nexen wanted to focus on key behavioural competencies, some very specific to their organisational culture. We used a range of group and individual activities, including situational role play to test these.

Communications Roles – We designed and delivered assessment centres that enabled the organisation to test in some detail the communication skills of candidates. Using a range of different exercises and ability tests gave the client the confidence that the successful candidates had the breadth of capability required
